The main hub and middle of San Diego is called “Central San Diego.” It can be easily be identified with downtown, the San Diego International Airport (SAN), and the metro areas just outside of downtown San Diego.
This area is just north of the metro and downtown areas of San Diego. It contains Mission Valley, Golden Triangle, and Miramar Air Base (MCAS Miramar).
This is the southern region of San Diego. It stretches just south of downtown San Diego to the US-Mexico Border. The most popular cities are Chula Vista, San Ysidro, and Imperial Beach.
The East county of San Diego stretches over a wide area. It is a very diverse area with large cities like El Cajon and country living in Alpine, Lakeside, and Jamul.
This area is about 20 minutes East of the coastal areas of San Diego. Often called the “I-15 Corridor”, because the main highway is the I-15 (Interstate Fifteen). The area stretches just north of Mission Valley and goes vertically towards the northern edge of San Diego County.
This is the North Western edge of San Diego. It has many beautiful coastal towns like Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Oceanside. The most notable land marks are the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton (MCB Pendleton) and Legoland, Carlsbad.
