What do I photograph at a restaurant with a long table seating 20 people for a small family wedding dinner? How do I do this when the camera says that the light is dim?
Yesterday, Ever Tagulao got married to Allan Alcantara and the wedding dinner was at Red Lobster in downtown Chula Vista.
The setup was lit with comfortable restaurant lighting, and much brighter than a Black Angus or Chili's, dimmer than a Subway. In other words, comfortable lighting that didn't feel like you were being beamed up from an alien space ship. I was using the Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 thinking that it would work with the natural light. Nope. So I swiched to the 50mm f/1.8 and again that wasn't fast enough to keep up with the children.
How do I approach this situation?
My eyes said that it was well lit, but the camera said it was dim.
Also, what was I trying to capture between watching my own 2 boys and eating my tasty salad?
